OMARA PORTUONDO
Omara has been a star in Cuba for nearly half a century, recording and performing with many of Cuba’s finest musicians. It was the Grammy award winning "Buena Vista Social Club" album that brought her international recognition, and her critically acclaimed 2000 album "Buena Vista Social Club Presents…Omara Portuondo" placed her wonderfully expressive voice centre stage, where it belongs.

"Flor de amor" ("Flower Of Love") is the second solo album for World Circuit by Cuba’s leading female vocalist and Buena Vista Social Club star, Omara Portuondo. Her heartfelt vocals on a collection of musical love letters are backed by a combination of Cuban and Brazilian influences to give the album its distinctive style.
The expressive nature of Omara’s voice, and the subtle nuances of her vocal technique are given the chance to shine, showing a more reflective side of Omara’s personality. Her experiences as an artist add a more heartfelt sincerity to her performance on this album. On "Flor De Amor" Omara Portuondo demonstrates that she has mastered her art, and sings with an authority, knowingness, and a depth of emotion that makes each song sound that it was written specially for her.

World Circuit are proud to announce the release of “Buena Vista Social Club presents ….. Omara Portuondo” - the debut album by the one of Cuba’s most celebrated singers, Omara Portuondo.
World Circuit have produced albums of the other Buena Vista stars Rubén González and Ibrahim Ferrer. Now it is the turn of the only female star of the "Buena Vista Social Club" album and film, Omara Portuondo. Recorded in Havana by Jerry Boys, who engineered World Circuit’s original Buena Vista, Ibrahim Ferrer and Rubén González albums, the album retains the distinctive Social Club sound - resonant and evocative of the heyday of the big band era.
