Ismaël Lo is often called the "Bob Dylan of Senegal" as a result of his guitar and harmonica combination coupled with his deeply satisfying lyrics. As Lo himself says: "I speak of racism, poverty, famine, and the relationships among people". The roots of the Blues is known to have had its origins in West Africa, and the blues of Ismael Lo epitomises the very best of that tradition.
